Bus stop locations are established to serve groups of students safely and efficiently and are selected based on established safety criteria. Bus stops must provide adequate sightlines for approaching traffic, must not be located on curves or hills that interfere with visibility, and must not be placed on dead-end roads unless a suitable turnaround area is available and maintained year-round. Changes may be considered when there is a legitimate safety concern, such as hazardous road conditions, sightline issues, traffic patterns, or other factors that may place students at risk. As part of the assessment process, STSCO may conduct a site visit to evaluate the concern. Requests based solely on convenience, scheduling, childcare arrangements, or personal preference are generally not approved.
